Aug. 16 – Poka-Bache Task Force meets to discuss marketing, budget and bylaws
HUNTERTOWN — The Poka-Bache Connector Trail Task Force discussed marketing, its budget and other building blocks at its Aug. 9 meeting at the Huntertown Town Hall.
The Task Force began with discussion centered on obtaining marketing services for the group. Marketing needs for the Poka-Bache Task Force includes website creation, establishing a social media presence, effective print and illustration advertising and swag-related promotion.
The task force agreed to send requests for proposals to various advertising agencies with a deadline for response by Sept. 6, one week before the next task force meeting.
In other matters
• The task force interlocal agreement was submitted to the State Board of Accounts. The agreement was accepted.
• After slight revisions in wording, a motion was made to approve task force bylaws. It was approved unanimously.
• Budget discussions and the proposed amounts from the 11 jurisdictions within the task force area was tentatively set at $50,600. Additionally, the task force agreed to create and share an annual budget report with the council municipalities.
Task Force members are appointed by elected governing bodies in Allen, DeKalb, Steuben and Wells counties, in addition to the cities and towns of Angola, Auburn, Bluffton, Fort Wayne, Huntertown, Ossian and Waterloo.
The Poka-Bache Connector Trail is expected to connect Oubache (pronounced “Wabash”) State Park in Bluffton with Pokagon State Park in Angola. The 81-mile trail is part of the United Trails project.
