Charger softball wins two out of three games

The Carroll High School softball team is out to a 4-3 start after winning two out of three of its games last week.
The Chargers beat Northrop, 7-6 on April 18; lost to Huntington North, 4-0 on April 19; and shut out Bellmont, 4-0 on April 20.
On April 18 at Northrop, the Chargers rallied from an early 6-0 deficit, scoring two runs in the third inning, two in the sixth and three more in the top of the seventh.
Emilia Garcia earned the win in the circle, striking out three.
Lauren Kirkpatrick led the Chargers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and five RBIs. Abigail Linder was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In the April 19 loss to Huntington North, the Chargers were limited to just three hits. Kirkpatrick had a double and Linder and Olivia Wallace had singles.
In the April 20 win over Bellmont, Carroll got two runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the fourth.
Lucy Fisher was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBIs. Jordyn Fisher went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Delaney Conner was the winning pitcher, giving up just three hits and striking out six in earning the shutout.
The Chargers were scheduled to have five games in as many days this week, all on the road: They were set to travel to Leo on Tuesday, April 24, Snider on Wednesday, April 25, Luers on Thursday, April 27, and South Bend Adams on Friday, April 28. They have a game at the LaPorte Tournament on Saturday against an opponent to be determined.
