Charger athletes shine at North Side meet

FORT WAYNE — Carroll High School track and field athletes were well represented at two of the biggest early spring meets in the area this past weekend.
The Charger girls were in action at last Friday night’s Legends Relays at North Side High School, while the Carroll boys were at last Saturday’s 70th edition of the North Side Relays.
Friday night in the girls meet, the Chargers won the team title with 154 points. Columbia City was second with 105 and East Noble third with 104.5.
Doreen Adjei, a freshman, won the Division 2 100-meter dash (13.01).
Junior Maura Sloffer was third in the Division 1 600-meter run (1:46.22). Freshman Stella Kruse was third in the Division 2 600-meter run (1:54.02).
Freshman Megan Lanning was third in the Division 1 1,600-meter run (5:39.80). Freshman Olivia Bronzan finished eighth in the Division 2 1,600-meter run (6:03.38).
Sophomore Evie Sunderlin was seventh in the Division 1 100-meter hurdles (17.09). Freshman Dorthothy Adjei finished sixth in the Division 2 100-meter hurdle event (19.33).
In the 300-meter hurdles, sophomore Adell Schlotterback won the Division 1 race (45.42), with sophomore Alyssa Davis making it a Charger sweep in the Division 2 event (48.33).
Carroll’s 4×100-meter relay squad of Aliyah Sauder, Doreen Adjei, Kahlen Tucker and Danielle Adjei was fifth in their race (51.71). The Chargers’ 4×200-meter relay team of Dylainey Floyd, Sophia Sicoe, Laila Stuckey and Doreen Adjai was fourth (1:50.56).
The 4×400-meter relay unit of Anna Vie, Floyd, Ava Myers and Sunderlin won that event (4:11.00).
Freshman Bailey Sinish won the Division 1 high jump (5-4), and her teammate, fellow freshman Myers, was fourth in the Division 2 high jump (4-4).
Kahlen Tucker was third in the Division 1 long jump (16-2), while her teammate Sauder won the Division 2 long jump (16-4).
Junior Addison Windsor finished second in the Division 1 pole vault (10-0), while her teammate Kate Beasley won the Division 2 event (9-0).
Junior Mallory Leimkuhler was sixth in the Division 1 discus (82-05). Her teammate Elyse Francher-Donald, a sophomore, was fifth in the Division 2 discus (77-01).
Francher-Donald finished eighth in the Division 1 shot put (28-10).
In the boys meet on Saturday, meanwhile, the Chargers finished 13th as a team with 49 points. Concord won the overall team title with 123 points.
Junior Noah Balbo finished 12th in the Division 2 100-meter dash (11.81). Sophomore Dajuan Green was 10th in the Division 1 100-meter dash (11.45).
Freshman Zaraab Habib was eighth in the Division 2 1,600-meter run (4:52.97). Junior Elijah Silcox was seventh in the Division 1 event (4:36.44).
In the Division 2 3,200-meter run, freshman Will LeCocque finished eighth (11:11.53). Sophomore Antonio Uncheselu was 12th in the Division 1 race (11:12.72).
Sophomore Jackson Busse was eighth in the Division 2 110-meter hurdles (20.36). Freshman Samuel Lovell finished 12th in the Division 1 event (18.19). Lovell also finished seventh in the Division 2 300-meter hurdles (47.63).
The Chargers’ 4×100-meter relay squad of Dajuan Green. Kevin Bodenstein, Jaxon Smith and August Adams finished second (44.88). The 4×200-meter relay team of Victor Barretto, Jaxon Smith, Maher Abdo and Troy Bidlack was ninth (1:40.90).
Carroll’s 4×400-meter relay team of August Adams, Brayden Page, Trey Torres and Jaydon Barrie finished fifth in their event (3:35.60). The 4×800-meter relay unit of E.J. Ellingson, Tyler Beuchel, Charles Basham and Gregory Buechel took second (8:37.64).
The Chargers’ distance medley team of Blake Neitert, Jacob Blackburn, Will Bridgewater and Jacob Kieffer finished fifth (11:29.35).
Senior Chandler Jones was fourth in the Division 1 high jump (5-8). T.J. Ghotra was fifth in the Division 2 pole vault (10-0) and his teammate, freshman Michael Furniss, was ninth in the Division 1 event (10-0).
Junior Noah Balbo was fifth in the Division 1 long jump (20-31/2). Senior Chandler Jones finished third in the Division 2 long jump (19-61/4). Senior Dylan Balsamo was seventh in the Division 2 shot put (40-1/2).
Senior Isaac Black was seventh in the Division 2 discus (107-1/2).
