Three Carroll Chargers recently committed to swim or dive at the college level.

Adam Carr will attend the University of Indianapolis for diving; Autumn Bruns will swim at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee; and Lexi Janikowski will swim at the University of Findlay in Ohio.

Carr said competing in college has been a big goal of his for a long time. “I’ve worked pretty hard for it,” Carr said after making it official at a signing ceremony March 7.

Carr said he was drawn to the UIndy program because he was familiar with Greyhounds coaches, some of whom have already coached him at the club level.

“That’s the main reason I want to go down there,” Carr said. “They have some really good divers down there so I’m hoping I can learn to be a better diver.”

Carr said he’s been blessed to have great teammates and coaches at Carroll. “I’ve learned to be humble, never get too excited, so I’m going to take that advice with me to college,” he said.

Carr added that he hopes to add some new dives to his repertoire.

Carr said he’s also been blessed to have the support of family and friends all throughout his high school years. He plans to study business at UIndy.

Bruns, meanwhile, said she is relieved to get the recruiting process in the books. “It was a super long process,” Bruns said. “It was really hard to make a decision.”

Bruns went with Rhodes because of its pre-med program in addition to the athletic opportunities it offered.

She plans on swimming the breaststroke and individual medley events at Rhodes. “I feel like I’ll fit in well there,” Bruns said. “The team environment is super close there, and that’s what we have here at Carroll,” Bruns added.

Bruns said there’s much she can still learn in swimming. “I want to do more distance events,” she said.

Support from her family and a big circle of friends helped her ultimately make the college choice, Bruns said.

She’ll start out studying biology or biochemistry on a pre-med track, Bruns said.
