INDIANAPOLIS — The Carroll High School boys swimming team had a very successful trip to the state meet in Indianapolis.

The Chargers finished third in the team standings at the IU Natatorium on Feb. 25 with 150 points, behind state champion Carmel (363) and runner-up Zionsville (257).

And Carroll came home with an individual state champion in Adam McCurdy, who took the 100 breaststroke and set a school record (54.69).

In other events, the Chargers’ 200 medley relay team of Evan Bushong, McCurdy, Owen Dankert and Mason Crews was fourth (1:33.36).

Dankert was eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:42.07). McCurdy was also third in the 200 individual medley (1:47.15). Dankert also finished fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:31.84). Mason Crews also made the podium, finishing eighth in the 500 freestyle (4:39.09).

Bushong was seventh in the 100 backstroke (51.12).

Finally, the Chargers’ 400 freestyle relay team of McCurdy, Crews, Dankert and Bushong finished fifth in their event (3:08.34).
