Aug. 10 – Juvenile arrested in connection with Fort Wayne shooting
FORT WAYNE – The Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Unit took a juvenile into custody at a local high school in connection with a shooting last week.
The juvenile, whose identity has not been released, was taken into custody at 8 a.m. Aug. 10 and transported to Allen County Juvenile Center to be charged with aggravated battery and criminal recklessness.
According to police, the following occurred:
At roughly 5:45 p.m. Aug. 1, FWPD officers responded to Lafayette Park near the intersection of Glencoe Avevenue and Lafayette Esplsande in reference to a party armed call, where someone fired a round at a group of people. Witnesses heard one shot being fired. A juvenile victim was located at the scene suffering from one gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital in non-life threatening condition by Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
The shooter fled before police arrived. No other injuries were reported for the incident.
