Northrop Classique to draw show choirs

Middle school and high school show choirs from northeast Indiana and beyond will compete at the Northrop Classique in Fort Wayne this weekend.
Northrop High School, 7001 Coldwater Road, will host the area’s first show choir competition of the season.
Middle school show choirs will compete from 6-10 p.m. Friday, with awards at 10:15 p.m. Admission is $5.
High school show choirs will compete in two admission segments Saturday. The women’s division will compete from 8 a.m.-noon, with awards at 12:30 p.m. Mixed choirs will compete from 1-5:30 p.m., with awards immediately after the 5:30 performance. A separate admission applies to the evening championship sing-off, from 6:30-approximately 11:15 p.m., with awards to follow. Admission to the day program or the evening program is $10. Admission to both is $15.
Food will be available at a Northrop concession stand.
The host school’s show choirs will perform in exhibition. The 60-member Allure women’s show choir will perform at 6:30 p.m. to open the evening. The 54-member Charisma mixed choir will perform at 10:50 p.m., just before awards.
Tom Maupin directs Northrop show choirs, assisted by Shelley Johnson. Chris Rasor is choreographer. Kevin Klee directs the 17-member backup band.
