The Fort Wayne Police Department was summoned to the intersection of Taylor Street and Broadway at about 12:05 a.m. Tuesday after a woman told dispatch she had been robbed at gunpoint.

Patrol officers obtained the suspect’s description, and minutes later apprehended a male who matched that description in the 2000 block of Broadway. Soon after, the victim positively identified the man arrested as the person who had robbed her with a firearm. The victim told officers that she was afraid for her life during the robbery.

Curtis Branch III was held on preliminary charges of robbery (Level 3 felony), convicted felon unlawfully carrying a handgun (Level 5 felony) and intimidation (Level 5 felony).

The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
