Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department’s Mother’s Day plant sale once again lived up to its tradition of confirming the arrival of spring.

More than 700 varieties of plants were trucked from Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory to a three-day sale at McMillen Park Community Center on Abbott Street. These included locally grown herbs, vegetable starts, flowering perennials and native plants as well as a host of annuals, mixed containers, hanging baskets, houseplants and bonsai. Essentials such as potting soil, compost worms and a variety of seeds also were available.

A team of knowledgeable plant advisors was on hand to answer questions and offer suggestions.

This annual fundraiser supports the Botanical Conservatory.
