The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin for the male victim that was found within his home in the 4300 block of Felger Road on Jan. 11 at approximately 3:32 p.m.

The decedent has been positively identified as Neal Edward Jordan, 73, of Fort Wayne.

Multi-agency fire departments responded to a residential fire, finding the home to be engulfed in flames upon arrival. Once the fire was under control, the decedent was located within the residence and death was pronounced on the scene by the Washington Township EMS.

The cause of death has been determined to be smoke inhalation and thermal burns, and the manner of death is accident.

This incident remains under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
