The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to I-69 and US 30 in reference to a vehicle crash with injuries on Jan. 7 at approximately 10:31 p.m.

Witnesses reported a minivan struck the median wall. Officers arrived and located a Dodge minivan in a ditch off the roadway. Paramedics transported the driver and sole occupant of the minivan to a local hospital in serious condition.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim’s condition was downgraded to life-threatening by a physician.

Preliminary investigation indicated the minivan was traveling northbound on I-69 and exited at the 309A ramp to merge onto US 30. The driver failed to stop when reaching US 30 and struck the median wall that separated eastbound and westbound US 30. The driver was ejected from the vehicle when it struck the median wall. Investigators confirmed speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
