SEPT. 13 UPDATE: Samuel Eugene Lovellette has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, which resulted in death (level four felony) and obstruction of justice (level six felony)

The Fort Wayne Police Department was able to make an arrest of the suspect involved in a fatal hit and run that occurred on Aug. 25 at the 1000 block of East State Boulevard.

A 52-year-old male, Samuel Eugene Lovellette, was arrested in the evening hours of Sept. 10 as the primary suspect. The police department previously sent out requests for the community’s help in this investigation.

As a result, the police department received valuable information from the community. FWPD would like to thank the community for all of the responses.
