The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2300 block of John Street in reference to shots fired, followed by a vehicle crash, on Oct. 12 at approximately 10:43 p.m.

Officers arrived and located a male adult victim in the driver seat of a crashed Toyota Corolla. The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Initial information indicated the shooting occurred while the victim was inside the vehicle, which then crashed into a vehicle parked on John Street. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene in an effort to obtain additional details. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased identity along with the official cause and manner of death.
