Fort Wayne Air Show: Fort Wayne Air National Guard Base 3005 W. Ferguson Road, Fort Wayne. In addition to the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the show’s initial performer lineup includes The Blacksnakes Combat Search & Rescue Demo, which will simulate the rescue of a downed Airman using UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters with A-10 Thunderbolt IIs providing cover. Performers will include the F-100 Super Sabre, which was a mainstay of the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War; the WWII-era B-25 Mitchell “Show Me” Nathan Hammond, who is one of the top aerobatic pilots in the world; and many others. Historic Harrison Home and Garden Tour: Harrison Hill Neighborhood, Fort Wayne. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. In celebration of their official listing in the National Register of Historic Places, the Harrison Hill neighborhood will welcome attendees into 10 historic homes and gardens, two churches and several green spaces throughout the neighborhood. Local artists will sell their work at an art market hosted by Bread and Circus. Food trucks will offer lunch and snacks to those wandering through the neighborhood. Tickets can be bought in advance for $15 at HarrisonHillFW.com or purchased on the day of the event for $18 (children 12 and under are free). Fort Wayne Area Community Band Free Concert: Foellinger Theatre, Franke Park, Fort Wayne. Students from area high schools and local individuals who would like to perform again will join the Fort Wayne Area Community Band for a free concert. Downbeat is 7:30 p.m. The 90-member ensemble will open the concert and the guests will join in for the second half of the performance. The program will include “The New American Folk Rhapsody,” “Basses on the Roof,” “Defying Gravity,” “1812 Overture” and “Rainbows.” In addition, the band will performing “Red Giant,” “Sabre and Spurs March,” “Under the Double Eagle March,” “The Whistler and his Dog” and more. Warrior Appreciation Day: Churubusco Town Park, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The Leatherneck Coffee Club is hosting a Warrior Appreciation Day and Vietnam remembrance ceremony. There will be a car show, rock climbing wall, the splash pad will be open, war reenactments, WWII memorabilia on display and a fly-over by F100 at 11 a.m. All proceeds will go to the veteran memorials and the Shepherd’s House for military members.
