Man arrested during traffic stop
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were in the area of the Coliseum Boulevard and Harris Road on Nov. 20 at approximately 3 a.m. investigating a dispatched call in regards to a man with a gun.
On checking the area, officers observed a Dodge Durango traveling on Coliseum Boulevard without headlights on. Officers then conducted a traffic stop on the Durango in the area of Coliseum Boulevard and Sherman Boulevard.
During the course of the traffic stop, a passenger from the vehicle, identified as Macquille Woodward III, fled the scene. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend Woodward. Officers were able to locate a holster for a handgun as well as a magazine for a handgun on Woodward’s person.
A short distance away, officers located a Taurus 9mm handgun. During the course of the investigation, Woodward was confirmed to be a serious felon, enhancing the handgun charges.
