The American Red Cross of Indiana is currently assisting 22 individuals who were displaced after a fire at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham hotel on Nov. 9.

Red Cross Disaster Action Team members were called to the scene by Fort Wayne emergency personnel to assess residents’ needs. DAT members are providing essentials such as shelter, food and health and mental health services.

The Red Cross is working with the local Salvation Army to provide a temporary shelter. DAT members will work with those impacted by the fire to connect them with community resources to begin their road to recovery.
