The Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted and advised of a death investigation located in the 4300 block of Albert Drive on Oct. 2 at approximately 2:35 p.m.

The Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the residence on an attempt to contact investigation, where an elderly couple had not been heard from for a few days. Both were found deceased inside the residence.

The decedents have been positively identified as Janet Joyce Peters, 71, of Fort Wayne, and Richard Allen Peters, 75, of Fort Wayne. The deceased are husband and wife.

The cause of death of Janet Peters is gunshot wound of the head and the manner of death is homicide.

The cause of death of Richard Peters is gunshot wound of the head and manner of death is suicide.

Janet Peters is the 31st homicide in Allen County for 2021.

This remains under investigation by the FWPD and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
