Woman dies after shooting on Ventura Lane
SEPT. 29 UPDATE: The Allen County Coroner’s Office has notified the death of Arlene Shelton, 61, of Fort Wayne. An autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of the death. The cause of death is gunshot wound and and the manner of death is homicide. Shelton is the 30th homicide in Allen County for 2021.
The City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Ventura Lane in reference to someone being shot on Sept. 28, 11:51 p.m.
Officers arrived and located an adult female victim lying in the driveway of a residence. The victim was suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition. Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased by the physician.
Initial information indicates the shooting occurred while the victim was inside a vehicle. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene in an effort to obtain additional information. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.
