Girls soccer team ties Woodside

The Maple Creek Middle School girls’ soccer team opened their season at home April 15 with a chilly game against Woodside ending in a 3-3 tie.

The girls started strong with a 2-1 lead during the first half but found themselves fighting back toward the end of the second half with a score of 2-3 but were able to tie it up before the end of the game! Goals were scored by Keegan Mohr, Riley Glassley and Addy Glick.

Boys soccer team stops Woodside

The Maple Creek Middle School boys’ soccer team began its season with a resounding 5-0 victory over Woodside. Co-captain Cole Hanas led a strong defense and also contributed two goals. “We really challenged the boys to be aggressive on defense and let the goals come to them,” said new head coach Jeff Wike. “It was truly a team effort.” Also scoring for the Bobcats were Cole Zent, Joey Casaburo and Liam Reed.

Girls stop Lakeview 7-1

The Maple Creek Girls soccer team added another win to their season April 29 after their game with Tigers of Lakeview Middle School, Warsaw. Macy Beers secured the goal while her teammates were on fire offensively! The Bobcats won 7-1. Izzy Szyndrowski led the team with a hat trick and players Rebecca Phelan, Riley Glassley, Jordyn Glassley and Addy Glick each had one.

Boys lose Lakeview battle

The Maple Creek Middle School Boys’ Soccer team lost its first game of the season 0-1 against Lakeview Middle School. Down two starters, the Bobcats put in a gritty performance in a match that was a fierce battle from the outset. Goalkeeper Evan Baker put in a strong performance with 6 saves against the Tigers.

Girls win over Summit

The Summit Middle School Falcons visited Maple Creek girls soccer team for a conference match. Once again, the Bobcats came out strong and pulled out another win! Keegan Mohr started the match with a goal and ended the match with her second goal of the night. Addy Glick, Paige Smith and Riley Glassey also each had a goal for the Bobcats.

Boys stop Summit 2-1

The Maple Creek Middle School boys returned to their winning ways in a strong 2-1 win at home against conference rival Summit Middle School. Landon Wells scored the first goal for the Bobcats while Cole Hanas scored the match winner in the closing minutes with strong build-up from Joey Casaburo and Nick Butler. “The boys showed perseverance and leadership across the roster,” said coach Jeff Wike. “They simply were not going to walk off that field without a victory.”

Soccer girls stop Canterbury

The Maple Creek Middle School girls’ soccer team showed up for their first win of the season against Canterbury with a score of 3-1. The match was played April 19 at Canterbury.

The girls starting defense — Grace Glick, Maylee Koesters, Adelyn Brueggeman and Gianna Lockman — showed up to play and held off Canterbury’s offense as the Bobcats controlled the ball for the majority of the game. The team came out strong after halftime, scoring all 3 of their goals in the 2nd half. Goals were scored by Chloe Ceresa, Addy Glick and Riley Glassley. Coach Michelle Newman.

Boys team blanks Canterbury

The Maple Creek Middle School boys’ soccer ream visited Canterbury and turned in a dominating 7-0 performance. Landon Wells led the scoring with two goals along with one each by Liam Reed, Eric Turney, Julian Soto, Nick Butler and Hugo Rekeweg.

Bobcat girls track team 1st

The Maple Creek Lady Bobcat track team traveled to Garrett for the Garrett Invitational. In true Bobcat tradition, the track stars performed at the highest level, winning the meet defeating East Noble, Indian Springs and Leo. Final scores were MC 85.5, EN 63.5, IS 31, and Leo 20.

Special Congratulations to Adelle Schlotterback for setting a new school record of 33.0 seconds in the 200m hurdles.

Trophies for boys track

The Maple Creek boys’ track squad traveled down Coldwater Rd. Friday evening to compete in the annual Joe Mahnesmith Invitational against 4 other schools in our “Big School Division” and brought home some hardware!
