John Hawkins appointed to Perry Township Advisory Board
John Hawkins, of Huntertown, was appointed to the Perry Township Advisory Board through caucus Feb. 27 at the Allen County Republican Headquarters.
Hawkins will fill a vacancy following the death of former board member Roger Gump on Jan. 31. The term is set to expire in December of 2022.
Hawkins, the current chief executive officer of H&H Sales Company Inc., Huntertown, has served as a Republican Precinct Committee member in Allen County since 2000. He and Gump each graduated from Huntertown High School in 1967.
4-H hosting archery class at fairgrounds
The Allen County 4-H Shooting Sports Program will host an archery class open to all youth in grades 4-12. An orientation meeting will be held April 15, 6:30 p.m., at the Allen County Extension Office, 4001 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne. The workshop dates will be 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. April 17 and 24, and May 1, 8, 15 and 22 at the Allen County Fairgrounds, 2726 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne.
The cost of the program is $30 per child, which includes state enrollment fees and archery project fee. All equipment is provided. This series will teach safe handling of equipment, proper care of equipment, shooting techniques and ethics of good shooters. Instructors are certified through the Indiana 4-H Shooting Sports Program of Purdue University and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The class is limited to the first 15 participants who have registered and paid. Minimum number is required to hold the class. Required registration and payment is due April 9.
