ACRES to have limited hours during office renovation
ACRES Land Trust’s office at Tom and Jane Dustin Nature Preserve closed for renovation Feb. 15. ACRES will staff limited on-site hours Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dustin Barn, 1958 Chapman Road, Huntertown. Staff will also be working remotely and available by phone and email. To contact ACRES, email acres@acreslandtrust.org or call 260-637-2273.
ACRES anticipates construction to be completed by the end of April. The project will improve office efficiency and accessibility. Updates include adding workspace for staff and volunteers, and expanding restrooms. Learn more at acreslandtrust.org/grow.
The project is part of an expansion plan that will add a barn to protect tools and equipment and create work space, establish accessible trails and a Cedar Creek overlook, and improve lane access for increasing business and visitor traffic.
Byron contents going to auction
The public will have the opportunity in March to purchase items left behind at the former Byron Health Center building at the corner of Lima and Carroll roads.
The Allen County Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Steffen Group Real Estate and Auctions on Friday to liquidate all remaining items through online auction. The auction will last for seven days beginning March 22 at steffengrp.com.
The auction will be preceeded by a 4-hour open house during which members of the public can view items in person. Guests will be required to sign in and will be escorted through certain areas of the building.
“We anticipate that we will get some people that will come in that aren’t really interested in bidding, just to see the building,” Vance Hernandez, Allen County director of buildings and grounds, said.
