The Allen County Board of Commissioners approved contracts for engineering work on three Allen County bridges Sept. 4.

The contracts will be paid for through the $6.6 million in state funding the county was awarded in February for rehabilitation of five bridges in Allen County. The three contracts approved Sept. 4 were for preliminary design work on:

• Amber Road bridge over the Little River, with construction scheduled for 2024

• Monroeville Road bridge over the Hoffman Ditch, with construction scheduled for 2023

• Slusher Road bridge over the Edgerton-Carson Ditch, with construction scheduled for 2024

The commissioners also approved new signs for several roads on the county’s east side.

A speed limit of 45 miles per hour will be posted on Amstutz Road from the Leo-Cedarville town limits to North County Line Road, as well as on Schlatter Road from Amstutz Road to S.R. 1. “No trucks” signs will be installed on Notestine Road from St. Joe Road to Wheelock Road.

“These were all primarily placed on constituent requests, and then our department studied it and determined that these were reasonable requests,” Allen County Highway Department Director Bill Hartman said.
