Old Lima Road closure announced for Huntertown Heritage Days events

By Mary Anne Gates - | Aug 9, 2024

Two separate and very popular Huntertown Heritage Days events are expected to shut down Old Lima Road for several hours Aug. 10. The narrow two-lane road runs through the heart of Huntertown.

Old Lima Road is scheduled to be closed by 10:30 a.m. for the Huntertown Heritage

Days parade, according to Huntertown officials.

The closure is enforced from Shoaf Road south to Woods Road, according to Huntertown law enforcement and Heritage Days officials. Woods Road is set to remain open during the parade.

The Huntertown Heritage Days parade starts at 11 a.m.

Afterward, Old Lima Road is expected to partially reopen. However, the road will remain closed from Gump Road to Trinity Street for the car show. Currently, officials are expecting about 150 cars.

Additionally, market vendors participating in the monthly Huntertown Community Market inside the Huntertown Family Park, 2302 Woods Road, are encouraging vendors to transport merchandise and other necessary equipment inside the park before Old Lima Road closes.

The Huntertown Community Market is scheduled to be open to the public from noon-4 p.m. during Huntertown Heritage Days.

Huntertown Community Market officials stress that vendors do not have to be set up before the parade gets underway. However, access to the park for the usual vendor set-up will be impossible during the road closure.

According to law enforcement, Old Lima Road is expected to fully reopen after 3 p.m. Aug. 10.
