Pedestrian dead after being hit by vehicle in Maysville Road parking lot

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle accident that occurred on April 20 at approximately 1:22 pm in the parking lot of Meijer at 10305 Maysville Road, Fort Wayne.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that a Lincoln MKX was attempting to park in a stall when it suddenly accelerated through the parking lot. The Lincoln stuck an adult male who was next to his vehicle, along with several other vehicles. An officer arrived shortly after and started emergency care. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Air Support Unit were asked to investigate the crash. A large portion of the parking lot was restricted during the investigation. Meijer and the driver are cooperating with investigators. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased once notification has been made to the family.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office.
