A Fort Wayne woman who was injured in an accident on Wednesday, March 22, died Thursday, April 20.

The woman was transported to a hospital after a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Clinton Street at Wallace Street, in Fort Wayne.

The victim, who was a passenger on a Citilink bus, was identified as Carrie Abernathy, 82, of Fort Wayne.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office determined that the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries from the crash. The manner of death was ruled an accident.

Abernathy is the 10th traffic fatality for Allen County for 2023.

This incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
