Pedestrian injured in accident involving police car

Fort Wayne Police responded to an accident at approximately 7:27 p.m. Wednesday involving a vehicle driven by a Fort Wayne police officer.
The personal injury accident happened at the intersection of South Calhoun Street and East Main Street.
The FWPD reported, “As a Fort Wayne Police officer was turning left onto eastbound East Main Street from southbound South Calhoun Street, the officer’s vehicle made contact with an adult pedestrian who was crossing across East Main Street. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for treatment where the condition of the pedestrian was described as life-threatening.
“Due to the ongoing investigation, the name of the officer and pedestrian has not been released.”
The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team along with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Air Support Unit was on scene for the investigation.
