The 2022-23 boys high school basketball season came to an early, disappointing end for the Carroll Chargers Feb. 28 as North Side used an opening blitz to build an early lead and cruise to a 79-48 win in the Class 4A Sectional 5 quarterfinals.
The Legends (14-9) outscored Carroll 21-6 in the first quarter and that set the tone for the night.
North Side led 38-18 at halftime and 58-27 at the final stop.
The Chargers were led by junior guard Jaxon Pardon with 22 points. Drelyn Trusdale and Andrew Sinish added eight each.
North Side was paced by Bras Bassett with 19 points.
Carroll head coach Ryan Abbott said his team struggled to score early while everything was falling into place for the Legends.
“It was kind of a perfect storm out there,” Abbott said. “It kind of steamrolled on us.”
Abbott said just a few more converted possessions for Carroll in that pivotal first quarter could have made a difference.
“It could have been 21-14 or 21-15, then it’s a completely different game,” Abbott said.
The Chargers say goodbye to two seniors: Sinish and Charlie Rudolph.
